Aisling’s Japanese goal getter scores again as Annacotty beat title hopefuls Nenagh
Limerick District Premier
Aisling made it back to back league wins for the first time this season with a strong display against title contenders Nenagh AFC.
Since losing to the same opposition in extra time in the Munster Junior Cup earlier in the season, Aisling have been inconsistent but stuck by and large with the same starting eleven that beat Fairview a fortnight ago and it paid dividends.
Nenagh, without international James McGrath went close early on when Thomas Shepard turned in the box but shot wide.
However, Aisling took the lead from a corner after 10 minutes when goalkeeper Aaron Savage couldn’t hold a whipped cross and Darren Harrington showed composure to slam a half volley in at the near post.
The visitors doubled their lead ten minutes later when Japanese import Sosuke Kimura slalomed through Nenagh’s midfield to finish low to the Keeper’s right from twenty yards to leave Aisling two ahead at the turn.
Aisling could have gone further in front after the break, but for Savage’s fine double save from Kimura’s penalty and Jason Lipper’s follow up.
The visitors saw the game out, defending well and breaking quickly as Nenagh chased the game to draw level with Pike Rovers and sneak into the top half of the table.
