Leinster Junior Cup
St Kevin’s Boys-0
NEFL outfit Ardee Celtic claimed ended another Dublin sides come dreams over the weekend.
Not long after knocking ambitious and progressive AUL Premier A side Kimore Celtic out of the FAI Junior Cup, Celtic knocked famous northside outside outfit St Kevin’s out of the Leinster Junior.
A single goal was enough for Ardee against the LSL fifth tier outfit as they continue to impress in both of the big cups contests.
Ardee had the better of the first half chances with Ross Gaynor, who scored a crucial goal against Kilmore, having an early shot saved, while James McMullen and Gareth Kane also flirting with breaking the deadlock.
The Deesiders chances of progressing were then helped as Kevin’s were reduced to 10. Soon after the hosts found themselves in front.
A deep cross was tipped onto the bar, McMullen reacted first to the rebounded and fired home what turned out to be the games decisive goal.
Kevin’s did attempt response before the turn, but a brilliant save meant they went into the break trailing.
Both sides had chances after the break, with Ardee hitting the woodwork and Kevin’s having some efforts saved.
However, McMullen’s proved enough for Celtic to progress.
