Rush Athletic are back in Summer Sunday and have their sights set on righting what they fell is a 16 year old wrong.
After winning three Saturday leagues in a row as well as picking up cup silverware the club feel they are in a strong enough to return to Sunday football.
The club will play Major 1 Sunday next season and have their sights set on securing Intermediate football by 2020 for their 50th anniversary.
Failure to secure Intermediate football in 2002 when current manager Declan Whyte was a player started the clubs troubles.
Rush thought they were going up, but after securing second spot had a result overturned by the powers that be and their Senior Sunday 1B spot went to another team.
The club then dropped 10 divisions and into Saturday football over the proceeding years and have had their fair share of troubles since.
Five years ago the club regrouped and set a return to Sunday goal and now after some years of success they return to a Sunday set up.
Back to back promotions would prove difficult especially with the influx of strong teams from the AUL, but Rush remain hopeful they can bolster their squad and finally reach Intermediate grade.
