Sources close to the Junior Soccer Portal have revealed that the Athletic Union League are blocking member clubs from joining the Leinster Senior League for the 2017/18 season.
The JSP understand that a number of clubs across both the AUL Premier A and Premier B divisions have applied to join the LSL from next season, however, in a recent league meeting the AUL made it clear that they will not be letting any clubs leave for any league.
In one particular case, the LSL accepted an application from an AUL club, however, the AUL prohibited the club from making the switch with the LSL claiming that this was a matter between the club and the AUL with there being little they could do to allow such a move to take place.
It has been suggested that clubs may be able to make the switch if they change their official club name which would then disallow the AUL from standing in their way.
A number of clubs have made the move from the AUL to the LSL in recent years including St Kevin’s Boys, Collinstown, Ballymun United and Killester United.
