Tolka Rovers have secured the services of the reigning AUL Manager of the Year as they bid for a Senior Sunday 1 assault.
The LSL name suffered relegation from the top flight in the season just gone after a very disappointing campaign.
The management team headed by John Chandler that oversaw a great escape the season previous stepped down after the final game of the term and Tolka have been on the management hunt since.
A number of coaches threw their name into the hat, but Stephen Doran has been handed the task of rebuilding at the club.
Doran won the 2015/16 manager of the year award at last years awards ceremony and comes in from Rivervalley Rangers.
The talented coach oversaw Rangers rise to the AUL Premier A top flight for the first time in the history. This season didn’t go as planned as a squad backed to have an impact and had proved their ability to compete against top sides with good cup runs in recent seasons. Rangers were relegated this week after final day defeat to Sheriff YC, although they did manage to make the Nivea Cup final, which they also lost to Alan Reilly’s charges.
There will be an element of surprise surrounding the move, not that people will be shocked Tolka plumped for Doran, but because the manager left Rivervalley.
Doran was seen as Mr Rivervalley Rangers and has established a real family feel to the close knit club. However, he has moved to an established club and the young manager has a real chance to progress his career and increase his standing at Frank Cooke Park.
Doran will be assisted by Ciaran Hughes and Mark O’Brien.
