Finglas club W.F.T.A have officially announced that they have withdrawn their senior team from the AUL’s top division, the Premier A. Their results so far this season are expected to be declared null and void.
The club have become the latest in a long line of north Dublin clubs that have withdrawn from various divisions over the past two seasons.
Last season saw high profile withdrawals from Baldoyle Utd and Raheny Utd from Premier A & C divisions as they were unable to field a team.
This season has already seen the demise of established senior sides in St Malachys / Edenmore, Darndale Rovers and Howth Celtic withdrawing from the Premier B.
W.F.T.A have suggested that they will look to take the same route as Baldoyle Utd and apply to re-enter the Premier B next season with a new squad of players.
An increase in emigration and work commitments has been cited by a number of clubs as to their inability to put a squad together for the season.
