Tommy Clements Cup
Sheriff YC began the new season like they ended the last with victory.
The reigning Premier A and FAI Junior Champions defeated Kilmore Celtic in the their Tommy Clements Cup opener.
Kilmore, who were promoted to the top flight from Premier C, got a taste of what life in the Premier A might be like as Sheriff up the anti when they needed to, to run eventual winners.
An ambitious Kilmore side matched the Junior giants in the opening half and went into the break on level terms.
However, Sheriff moved through the gears post the turn around and eventually took the lead via defender Joe O’Neill.
The adventurous defenders dangerous cross deceived the net minder and found it’s way into the back.
Recent DDSL representative Taylor Creane put the finishing touches on a great team move to double the advantage soon after, but Kilmore managed to pull one back via a well taken Paul McMillian free kick.
However, Chris Reilly restored the two goal cushion with a brilliant individual strike and Sheriff won the group C clash with some breathing space.
