Ballynanty Rovers became the first side to beat Carew Park this season after thrilling Limerick top flight encounter.
Carew went into the clash full of confidence on the back of four wins from four league games, but Balla raced into an early lead thanks to a brilliant first half display and held off a late comeback to secure the win.
Ballynanty came flying out of the blocks. An Eddie Radcliffe double saw them rush into a two goal lead.
Derek Daly then extended the advantage to three when he found the back of the net.
Carew did pull one back in what was developing into a high octane entertaining attacking encouther as Adam Frahill scored.
The scoring didn’t stop there as Jamie Daly restored Balla’s three goal cushion soon after before Jamie O’Sullivan made it six goals in all in the first half with a finish right on the stroke of half time.
Carew got within one early enough in the second half as Mark Slattery volleyed home expertly from outside the box.
The previously unbeaten side had enough time to go get a point, even go on and make it five successive wins, but Balla held on and registered a victory of their own.
