Ballymun United produced a Friday night late show as they came from two goals down to ensure the battle of the promoted sides finished all square.
It looked as if former Sheriff YC Alan Reilly was going to get a horrible welcome to Intermediate football and the Leinster Senior League as Wanderers took a two goal cushion into the final 15 minutes.
However, two goals in the final eight minutes saw The Mun complete a marvelous comeback and square things up in a clash against the side they know all to well from climbing through the divisions together.
John Young’s side got their first LSL top flight fixture since 2010 off to a perfect start and took the lead 10 minutes in.
Regions Cup winning midfielder and a player you graced the top flight with Bangor Celtic, Conor Riddick opened the scoring for the recent FAI Junior and Intermediate side as early as 10 minutes.
The Pearse Park side, who won the corresponding fixture 2-1 last season, took that lead into the turn.
Indeed, a single goal separated the sides for the majority of the second half and when Wanderers added a second they on 75 minutes it looked game over.
Adam Deegan fired home with 15 minutes to go and it looked as if they home side had secured an open day win.
However, with eight minutes to go of an exciting game Ryan Scully tapped home to put just one between the sides and come 90 minutes Jake Hyland was finding the net to level proceedings.
