Tommy Clements Cup Final
Home Farm win 6-7 on penos.
Graham Bedford did a Lee Murphy against the peno king himself as Home Farm lifted the Tommy Clements Cup on Wednesday night.
The Home Farm keeper saved a sudden death peno not long after he had scored from 12 yards against a keeper famed for doing both in big shootouts over the years.
The win see’s the LSL second tier team eventually crowned Tommy Clements champions after the pre season decider was delayed until during the regular season.
League of Ireland legend Ollie Cahill gave Home Farm the lead on 34 minutes and they took that advantage into the break.
Darren Dunne then levelled 10 minutes after the restart after Sheriff were awarded a spot kick.
Stephen Murphy then saw red in the entertaining clash, but the 10 men of Sheriff made it to extra time.
Home Farm finished extra time with a two man advantage as Jon Rock was dismissed, but couldn’t get a goal advantage before the final whistle.
As a result the game was settled from 12 yards and after 12 successful spot kicks Beresford saved from Wayne Waldron to allowing Padriag Gilsenan to convert the winning peno.
