Butterkrust United and Bluebell United will replay the Leinster Junior Cup ‘scoregate’ clash.
After a bizarre ending to the clash Saturday Butterkrust instantly requested a replay.
The AUL Senior Saturday side and the second team of the reigning LSL Senior Sunday champions played out a thrilling encounter that finished 5-5.
However, the referee had the game scored at 5-4 and awarded the victory to the ‘Bell upon blowing for full time.
Butterkrust were expecting extra time and with Bluebell down to nine men were confident they had the chance to register a real scalp.
After the tie the AUL side called for the Major Sunday outfit to show sportsmanship and it seems they did.
The JSP believe ‘Bell’s first team manager, who trebles up as a Saturday player and club secretary, Andy Noonan, contacted the LFA and rather honestly informed them that Butterkrust had indeed scored five goals.
The title winning manager also revealed Bluebell would be willing to compete in a replay and a repeat will be rescheduled.
