Leinster Junior Cup
Ardmore Rovers-2
Freebooters AFC-3
Sean Boyle hit an extra time winner as Freebooters eventually booted Ardmore Rovers out of the Leinster Junior Cup on Friday night.
The Kilkenny side looked comfortable and on course for relatively easy passage to the next round when they opened up a two goal lead on the LSL Major side.
However, Ardmore battled their way back into the game and forced extra time.
Boyle then made sure the long and latter than expected trip back to Kilkenny wasn’t a bad one for Freebooters and he struck a late winner.

Freebooters open the scoring via Emmet Nugent and had a two goal cushion after a positive first half after Henry O’Neill doubled the advantage.
At that stage a routine win looked on the cards for one of Kilkenny’s finest, but the Bray side were not going down without a fight.
Ardmore got within one before Stephen McCann leveled with 11 minutes remaining.
Neither side could get a winner in those final few minutes and extra time followed.
Boyle then grabbed away hero status as he scored the winner and prevented a penalty shoot out.
