The win moves Scotland to four points after their opening day draw with Northern Ireland and leaves Ireland with three after they failed to follow up there dramatic Isle of Man win with a result.
Ireland are still in with a chance of retaining, but will need to beat Northern Ireland, who beat Isle of Man today, on Saturday and hope the Isle of Man get a result against Scotland.
Scotland shaded the first half in terms of possession, but Ireland had the better chances to take a lead into the break. The second half was a competitive affair and it remained tight and tense throughout.
However, Scotland snatched victory at the death with a last second volley.
