FAI Junior Cup 1st Round
Killenaule Rovers 1
Cashel Town 1
(Cashel won 5 – 4 on penalties)
Cashel keeper Gavin Browne’s heroics helped his side into the second round of the FAI Junior Cup after a classic, rip roaring cup tie with Killenaule Rovers. For the second game running Cashel earned their victory via penalty shootout, with Browne making a vital save that ensured Cashel, who have had a largely disappointing league season to date, can launch a cup run to offset their poor league form.
The Premier league outfit were aided by Rovers having a player dismissed after 10 minutes but did not take the lead for another 45. The hosts were level 1o minutes later, leading to extra time and ultimately penalties. Both sides converted their first four spot kicks before Browne’s stop decided the contest.
