Limerick Premier Division
Limerick soccer’s perennial top scorer took a small step toward ensure he is the divisions hot shot again this season with a hat trick in a comfortable win for Janesboro over Kilmallock.
‘Boro made it two league wins from two and left Kilmallock searching for their first win points of the new season thanks in particular to Clarke’s hat trick.
Clarke opened the scoring as early as the second minute finishing from close range come corner time.
The 40 plus goal scorer last season doubled the lead and registered his third goal of the season benefiting from a high press before finishing.
Adam Ryan then got his reward for closing down the keeper, dispossessing him after a poor back pass to put ‘Boro in the clear and three goals to the good at the break.
Kilmallock, who did play some decent football throughout, pulled one back via striker Sheedy not long after the turn, but Clarke restored the three goal cushion via the spot soon after.
Aaron Noonan got the goal his all round play deserved to make it five, while Kilmallock got further consolation when Killian Hayes tapped home after some unselfish Sheedy play.
