Clondalkin Celtic have been promoted weeks before a ball has been even been kicked in the 2016/17 season.
The progressive Gavin Fleming managed side have benefited from Hyde Park’s decision to withdraw from the Major Sunday and only field a Saturday side.
Having finished fourth in Major 1 Celtic were offered Hyde’s Major spot and have accepted, as a result the team who only started playing Sunday football last season after impressive Saturday displays, which included a Noel Ryan Cup win, will join CIE Ranch, Ardmore Rovers and Corduff as the promoted sides in the top Junior league in the LSL.
The Clondalkin Community Centre side are now just one division away from Intermediate football and after the demise of Moyle Park are now probably the biggest side on the Village side of Clondalkin.
Celtic’s elevation also has knock on effects on the divisions below and Knockmitten, another Clondalkin based outfit will take their place in Major 1 joining the likes of Willow, Collinstown and St Kevin’s in what looks like an exciting division.
