Two brilliantly taken long range efforts prevented Firhouse Clover from getting a result in Richmond Park on Tuesday night.
The Tallaght side exited the Leinster Senior Cup and amateur football’s interest in the competition at the quarter final stage after defeat to St Pats.
Debutant Jamie Lennon, who had a short stint with Ely Woodlawn last season, opened the scoring on 15 minutes opening his account in style.
Alex O’Hanlon doubled the advantage when his volley late on looped into the back of the net.
Luke Walsh did manage to find the net for the Tallaght side and his late strike set up a nervy finish for the home side, but the League of Ireland outfit held firm and progressed to the last four of the contest.
Clover will be content with how the performed and it may act as a confidence booster going into the league.
A host of amateur sides will be hoping to go one better than the Senior Sunday outfit this weekend in round one of the FAI Senior Cup.
