Leinster Junior Cup
Veteran goal getter Graham Doyle was the difference as Collinstown defeated one of Kilkenny’s top clubs in the Leinster Junior Cup on Sunday.
He looks more like John Hartson, but has been christened ‘Zlatan’ by some in Clondalkin continues to roll back the years for LSL Major Sunday 1 side.
Doyle, who last season was co managing Dublin Bus, followed up his last minute winner in the league last week with a brace in a cup competition Collinstown won two seasons ago.
The younger brother of former Cherry Orchard and Tolka Rovers manager Paul Doyle and older brother of current Dublin Bus midfielder Geoff Doyle opened the scoring on the half hour mark.
The target man collected a pass from former Oatfield captain Philly Yourell, rolled his man and found the back of the net.
Doyle doubled the advantage just two minutes before the break when he caught the keeper sleeping come free kick time, took it quickly and found the back of the net.
A good Evergreen side had periods of possession throughout and tested the LSL side in an evenly matched tie, but it was Collinstown who ran out deserved winners to set up a clash with another top side, Northend United.
