No doubt they would love to have him leading the line as the embark on a debut LSL campaign, but Ayrfield are delighted to have James English involved at the club regardless of the capacity.
The Shelbourne number 9 has joined the young coaching set up at the former Premier A side and will work along side new manager Ciaran ‘Boppers Watt’ McCloughlin and his back room team as Ayrfield plot a LSL Major Sunday 1 assault.
English, who scored 11 league goals for Shels last season and 45 in his last amateur campaign, a double winning season with Darndale, is a former Ayrfield United player.
Indeed, the goal getter is a bit of a favourite son at United considering he was their first ever Junior International representative.
The current League of Ireland player will now return to amateur football, but not as a player, rather as a coach and will help out where he can at his old club.
