LSL Premier Saturday
Glasnevin – 6
Beechill United – 2
Glasnevin continued their late season surge up the LSL Premier Saturday table as they powered past Beechill United 6-2 at Albert College Park on Saturday afternoon.
The hosts totally dominated the opening first-half netting on four occasions. First, after 25 minutes Eoghan Breen capitalized on a mix-up at the back allowing him to tap home into an empty net.
David O’Brien then added a quickfire double, tucking one deep into the bottom corner before chipping the keeper with a fantastic finish shortly after.
Jordan McNulty then added a fourth witha sublime chip of his own to make it 4-0 at the interval.
Beechill began the second half much brighter and cut the deficit to two with two goals early on to make an unlikely comeback possible.
However, Graham Quinn stomped out any chance of a Beechill resurgence when he added a fifth, his fourth goal in three games from the middle of the park.
O’Brien then sealed his hat-trick and Glasnevin’s sixth of the day when he hit a thunderous strike from just inside the area which rocketed into the top corner for his 33rd goal of the season.
Glasnevin have now won 6 and drawn 1 of their last 7 games in all competitions. And although promotion to Major 1D Saturday may just be a little out of their reach, it is a very promising way to end the season and will surely go onto be viable contenders throughout the next campaign.
