A late and great Colin Daly free kick saw Pike Rovers win a seven goal thriller on Thursday night.
Kilmallock managed to peg the title hopefuls twice and lead on one occasions, but Daly hit a worthy decider to make it five wins on the bounce for the Limerick City outfit.
Daly actually bookend the scoring as he got the ball rolling in an exciting game. The form front man raced onto a Shane Walsh pass to beat the keeper and break the deadlock.
Regular Kilmallock goal getter Barry Sheedy then levelled proceedings with a good finish from range. Killmallock then pulled ahead courtesy of a fine team move, but Sunday’s match winner Steven McGann squared things up before the turn when he charged into the box and fired home.
David Hannon registered his first goal of the club on what was his debut to put Pike back in front after the break.
However, true to the nature of the tie the visitors levelled. Paul Doona this time netting and again after an impressive Kilmallock passing move.
The light was fading fast but there was time for one more bright spark from Daly, this time the tricky player fired home a free kick to win a dramatic game in dramatic.
