Limerick District Premier League
Aisling Annacotty 1
Janesboro finally got over the line and claimed the Limerick District Premier League title thanks to victory in Annacotty on Sunday morning.
Boro’ who have proved perennial contenders of late, registered two second half strikes to pip both Pike Rovers and Carew Park past the title post and ensure a prestigious double.
Things looked ominous for ‘Boro at the start of the campaign as they lost their opening two ties, but they finished strong and are now league champions as well as Toughy Cup holders.
Thomas Clarke opened the scoring for the visitors converting a right footed freekick won by Adam Frahill to break the deadlock.
The hosts however, leveled before the break as Alan Connor headed home an Eoin Roche corner.
At that stage it was advantage Pike, but ‘Boro scored twice after the turn to ensure champion status.
Mike Hogan found the bottom corner after cutting in from the flank to restore the advantage before Shane Clarke missed a spot kick.
The other Clarke, Tom, however, ensured the result and the title was going the way of Janesboro when he converted Ed Brazier’s corner.
