Super sub Noel Downey hit a hat trick as Ballymun United eased into the next round of the Metro Cup on Sunday.
The Senior 1 promotion hopefuls hit top form in the cup and put six past Senior 1A outfit Inchicore to progress.
Peter O’Reilly looked like he was going to be the games hat trick hero as his quick fire brace put the visitors two up early on.
O’Reilly opened the scoring on seven minutes and doubled his and his sides tally from the spot not too long after.
The visitors took that lead into the turn, but Inchicore did threaten on occasion and certainly were not out contention.
The sides shared goals within a minute of each other after the turn as The Mun kept their two goal cushion.
Downey came into the fray and a quick fire brace saw him on a hat trick not long after his arrival.
The sub secured the match ball and victory for his side as he rounded off a fine personal display and another good performance for a side finding real form.
