LSL Senior Sunday
St Patricks CY-3
Jason Doyle hit a double as St Patricks CY took a massive step to confirming their Senior Sunday status on Wednesday night.
The Ringsend side trailed for most of the clash to an early Firhouse Clover strike, but managed to find the net three times in the final quarter to register an important win.
Stephen Geoghan’s men now move up to eight and go five points clear of the drop zone yet just two of fifth, while the reverse means Firhouse remain just one point and two places above the trap door.
Gerry Bambrick, who has given the Tallaght side a different edge since returning from injury, opening the scoring in eye catching fashion early on.
Clover managed to keep that advantage up and until the 75 minute when another striker finding form at the right time Jason Doyle leveled by adding the finishing touches to a long throw.
Doyle then put the finishing touches on a break away move to put CY in three points pole.
Wide man Dean Kelly, who claimed the assist for the second strike then made sure in style. The youngster collected the ball in his own half as Clover piled on the pressure, cushioned the ball over a potential tackler and elected to lob the ball home from inside his own half.
