LSL Senior Sunday
St Patrick’s CY-2
Nine man St Patrick’s CY attempted yet another brilliant comeback, but couldn’t quite get over the line this time around.
CY have won points from losing positions at least five times this season, but threatened the most unlikeliest of comebacks on Friday night.
The found themselves three goals and a man down early in the second half and after they pulled one back where reduced to 9, but continue to battle and put just one between the sides.
However, the couldn’t find a late late leveler and Drumcondra held on to make it back to back wins for the first time this season.
The victory also see’s Drum’s put two results between them and the drop zone.
Drumcondra took the lead via Adam Burch in the first half and doubled it on the 30 minute mark when in form Stephen Cantwell raced clear and made it three goals in three games.
The home line screamed for offside and one players protests resulted in him getting sent off.
Burch struck again to treble the advantage after the break, but comeback kings CY managed to pull one back when David Cassidy tucked away a penalty.
Any hopes of a scoring another two to at least secure a draw seemed to go up in smoke when the home side had a second player sent off.
However, John Rooney did set up a tense finish when he put the minimum between the sides.
Drums managed to hold of a late onslaught and banked what could prove a valuable three points.
