Cup specialists Rivervalley Rangers were no match for goal specialist James English in the Regency Cup on Sunday.
AUL Senior Sunday front runners Rangers went into the Ridgewood hosted tie with scalp taking reputation having put together impressive Leinster Junior Cup and FAI Junior Cup runs, but they were no match for an English inspired ‘Dale on Sunday.
English pushed his goals tally to 31 for the season with an amazing seventh season hat trick to ensure the Premier C side progressed to the next round.
English got the party started in style opening the scoring after five minutes with a quality volley from outside the area. That goal separated the sides at the break, but a quality Rangers outfit would have had hope of a second half revival.
However, on the hour mark they were further behind as English converted from the spot to make it 2-0. Rivervalley responded soon after via Collie O’Brien and halved the deficit, but an OG restored the two goal cushion, before Mick Leggett extended the advantage.
English then wrapped up the scoring and his hat trick with a second penalty.
