The cup provided no reprieve for struggling Geraldines as they exited the cup to an in form Nenagh on Sunday.
With most of Limerick amateur football’s big names competing in the FAI Junior Cup the top flight duo went head to head in the Munster Junior Cup.
And it was Nenagh who came out on top in relatively comfortable fashion.
‘Dines were in the game an competitive in the first half, but a quick fire double saw Nenagh take control before half time.
Regular goal getter James McGrath opened the scoring on 31 minutes, before Alex Gardos doubled the advantage just three minutes later.
Within six minutes of the restart it was game on again as Karl Turner pulled one back for the Limerick side.
However, the Tipp outfit put one foot in the next round on 55 minutes as McGrath found the back of the net via a deflection.
Tom Heffernan all but made sure of the side enjoying a debut Limerick Premier season’s progresion when he pushed the lead to three on the hour mark.
Turner struck again on 66 to keep alive some hope for Geraldines going into the final 25 minutes, but Ryan Gilmartin squashed the comeback dream with his sides fifth on 75 minuted.
