Limerick District League
Fairview Rangers blitzed the Champions to make it six points and TEN goals in two Limerick District Premier games this season.
Rangers scored five and kept a clean sheet for the second time running, but this result has raised considerable more eye brows than their opening day win over Killmallock.
The former FAI Junior Cup champions opened the scoring as early as the fourth minute when Brian Murphy raced onto a Paudie Quinn through ball to fire home.
Murphy turned provided as the hosts doubled their advantage and crossed for Craig Madigan to head home.
Fairview were dominant and looked threatening throughout, but the woodwork prevented them from conceding their first goal of the season as Kieran ‘Red’ Hanlon blasted against the upright.
Fairview went in with a two goal cushion at the break, but were not content to settle after the turn and went on the hunt for more goals. Kieran Hannon came close twice hitting the bar on one occasion.
However, when the next goal came in arrived the way of the home side and it was no surprise when Murphy found the net, this time lifting over the advancing net minder to put the result beyond doubt.
Three became four when Cian O’Donoghue pounced and Fairview added a fifth proved a well deserved goal for Hannon.
