Former Cherry Orchard and Firhouse Clover defender Dan Devine has decided to leave Shamrock Rovers.
The impressive and imposing centre half signed for Rovers last year not long after joining Firhouse Clover from Cherry Orchard.
The 24-year-old player has recently struggled with injuries and has decided to leave the club to concentrate on his full time education.
Devine started the first nine games of the league campaign for the Hoops but has only made two league appearances since May. He was an unused sub in Rovers’ 2-0 win last week in Limerick.
The defender, who was with Aston Villa with Evergreen striker Mikey Drennan, will most certainly be approached by amateur sides and could be seen back in the amateur game fitness and time permitting.
“It is disappointing news for Danny in particular but we fully appreciate Danny’s position and respect his decision,” said Hoops Head Coach Stephen Bradley speaking to shamrockrovers.ie.
“He leaves with our very best wishes, and being a local lad, we know we will continue see a lot of Danny at Tallaght Stadium supporting the boys.”
