It wasn’t that long ago that the Glebe North faithful were left cursing Lar Ivors.
Indeed, the mention of the front mans name may still bring back sad memories for those associated with the Senior 1 side. The strikers double played a part in Tolka getting the point they needed to stay up in an up or down clash with Glebe on the final day two seasons ago, a result that ultimately sent Glebe down.
However, rather than curse a front man that was rumoured to be Longford Towns radar next season they will hope to be cheering him on to success.
Ivors is one of a number of new signings in the North door and will wear the green if Glebe next season.
The new management team have moved to bolster a squad that finished sixth in Senior 1 last season and 10 points off promotion.
They have benefited from the massive changes at a side that relegated them on the last day of the season two years ago, Tolka Rovers and signed three from Frank Cooke Park.
In the door come Ivor’s, Lee Fahey, James Burke and Lee Sheridan all formerly of Rovers.
Ivors is probably the more standout of the signings. He was sensational as Tolka completed the great escape with a final day draw against Glebe and despite not being as prolific last term is still regarded as a top end amateur talent.
In an interesting twist the four former Tolka players will being their Glebe careers on their old stomping ground as the promotion hopefuls open their accounts against each other on Friday week.
