LSL Senior Sunday
You couldn’t have scripted it any better- Ballymun United’s first ever home game in LSL Senior Sunday was perfect.
Bluebell United provided the opposition for the first Leinster Senior League top flight game to be played at the Ballymun United complex and much to the delight of the home faithful The Mun made it a debut to remember.
The promoted side managed to register their first home win in their first ever Intermediate top flight game with victory over the reigning champions.
To add to the occasion and the drama Alan Reilly’s side managed the feat by coming from a goal down.
The Champions, who only lost three games last season, started the brighter and were a goal to the good before 15 minutes had past.
Former League of Ireland player Gareth Coulghan showed his class by firing home a free kick to break the deadlock.
‘Bell took that lead into the turn, but the Mun came out of the blocks firing post the break and were level within minutes.
Former Hardwicke player Jake Hyland crossed left footed into the area to allow Danny Murphy to volley home expertly.
Within five minutes centre half Ryan Scully put Mun into three point pole.
The defender latched on to a loose ball into the box come corner time and fired home emphatically.
Scully’s effort proved enough and the home side registered a historic win.
