LSL Metropolitan Cup Round One
Home Farm -4
Hartstown Huntstown – 1
Home Farm avoided a potential banana-skin by coming from behind to defeat LSL Senior 1B side Hartstown Huntstown 4-1 and advance in the First Round of the Metro Cup last Thursday night.
Hartstown, who were making their debut in the prestigious competition, got off to a wonder-start after Sean O’Reilly hit a wonder-goal to open the scoring on the half-hour mark. The number seven blasted a wicked shot from distance which flew over the Farm stopper and into the top of the net.
Five minutes later, the LSL Senior 1 Sunday hosts brought the game back to a level pegging when Niall Hoban slotted home to ensure the sides were level at the break.
That’s how the score would remain for the best part of the second period until Eoin Murray put the Farm in front for the first time in the game on 72 minutes.
Six minutes later the Drumcondra club solidified their winning position through Bob McKenna and ten minutes later they made sure of the victory when McKenna slid a ball through to Murray who took the ball round the ‘keeper before squaring to Bradley Hand who easily tucked the ball into an empty net.
