LSL Major Sunday
It took a bit of International quality to settle this clash between promoted sides and promotional hopefuls on Friday night.
Junior International Daniel Matthews curled home an 88 minute free kick as Collinstown eventually saw of the challenge of Willow Park.
Collinstown raced into a two goal lead in their first league game in six weeks, but were pegged back by a side that came up to Major Sunday with them last season and are currently placed in the top three.
However, midfield standout Matthews produced a moment of class late on converting an 88 minute free kick to ensure three wins from four league games for Kevin Carroll’s charges this season.
Collinstown started well and were a goal to the good after 20 minutes when the versatile and ever influential Ian McNeill broke the deadlock.
Youth graduate Mikey Griffin then doubled the advantage eight minutes later to ensure Collinstown had a two goal cushion into the break.
Former CCFL standout’s Willow responded well after the turn and pulled one back just nine minutes after the restart.
Seanie Brennan firing home to put just one between the sides.
With just over 15 minutes remaining Claudio Silva leveled things up and at that stage it looked like momentum may be with the visitors.
However, Matthews, who represented Ireland in the recent Quadrangular trophy popped up with a last gasp winner as Collinstown maintain their unbeaten start to Major Sunday life.
