With four goals to his name already in the tournament, Dillon Sheridan (pictured above) equalised minutes later. The striker broke through the German defence, and calmly put the ball past Germany’s Lars Nehrenheim to make it 1-1.
Despite conceding early, Ireland’s class shone through with Oisin Merritt and captain Gary Messett (pictured above) scoring before the break to give Ireland a 3-1 lead.
The three points that sent Ireland to the top of Group A were wrapped up in the second half, as Sheridan and Merritt scored another goal each to cap off a fine performance.
