Picking out one player as standout in any given week is difficult,but choosing one as Player of the Week in an FAI Junior Cup weekend is always that bit harder.
Players from across the country have claimed hero status for their respective clubs putting in performances that inspired Open Draw securing victories.
One such player was Joey McDonnell and such was his performance that he gets the nod this week.
Joey McDonnell inspired an Istanbull style comeback for Tolka Rovers Saturday side as they registered a second successive FAI Junior Cup scalp on Saturday.
The Frank Cooke Park side were trailing by three going into the second half of their fourth round clash with Saturday top flight side Malahide United.
However, just when it looked like Rovers were being ushered to the exit door McDonnell produced a monumental second half performance to force extra time.
The Tolka talisman hit a hat trick including a last minute leveler to force extra time. The front man also scored in the shootout that followed as Tolka reached Round 5.
Another hat trick hero over the weekend was Paul McMillian. The Junior International scored three for Kilmore Celtic as they beat Raheny to go third in Premier A.
Stephen Donnelly also deserves a mention for his winner as Usher beat Sheriff in the FAI Junior Cup in a fourth round clash Leroy Staunton and Darren McDonnell also stood out in.
Callum O’Donoghue was the star of the show as Everton won the Junior League Cup coming off the bench to score a match defining brace, which included a spectacular winner.
