This week’s Player of the Week is another land mark reacher.
Kevin Cox of Pioneers FC made it 50 goals for the club, reaching the tally in less that a season and half.
The prolific front made it 20 for this season and well on course to eclipse the 30 goals he hit last term.
And of course the striker hit the 50 mark in style with four goals for his club in a 7-2 win over Balbriggan FC on Sunday morning.
Keith Murray may not have as many as Cox, but his goal contribution was vital nonetheless and he deserves a mention.
Murray scored both goals as St Brendan’s claimed victory in Premier C top of the table clash. Murray found the net twice as his side over came Eastwall away.
A stunning first-half hat-trick from Jake Donnelly helped the AUL coast to a comfortable 4-1 victory against Defence Forces in Group A of the Oscar Traynor Trophy at the Phoenix Park on Saturday afternoon and also meant the Aungier Celtic front man ran Cox closest for the Player of the Week gong.
Donnelly opened his account on fifteen minutes before adding his and his sides’ second of the game on 35 minutes.
The striker then secured his hat-trick just before half-time to give the visitors a comfortable 3-0 advantage at the break in a cross league tie they eventually won 4-1.
