Munster Champions Cup
Killarney Celtic 2
A new team will be able to lay claim to being the best in Munster after reigning champions Janesboro were knocked out of the Munster Champions Cup over the weekend.
The Limerick title holders won the competition last season, but fell at the first hurdle this time round at the hands of Kerry’s top side Killarney Celtic.
Celtic came from a goal down and scored twice late on to progress to the next round.
Janesboro enjoyed the majority of the possession in the first half and took a lead into the break courtesy of a Thomas Clarke strike on 26 minutes.
The Limerick side, who also suffered surprise early exit in the FAI Junior Cup this season, continued to create chances after the turn.
However, they couldn’t find the insurance strike and were ultimately punished.
Killarney produced a brilliant final 10 minutes to secure the win. Stephen McCarthy leveled on 82 minutes before Danny Roche scored three minutes later to send Celtic into the next round.
