Munster Junior Cup
A quick fire second half Kilmallock double helped the Limerick team into the next round of the Munster Junior Cup on Sunday.
The Division 1A Limerick side Southend put in an admirable display, but eventually lost out to the top flight side in an entertaining affair.
Kilmallock went a goal to the good midway through the first period thanks to a strike from Paul Donna.
However, the third tier outfit managed to level before the turn as Dean Hogan found the back of the net.
Kilmallock then looked to have put the game to bed as they hit two goals in quick succession.
First John Heffernan gave the recently promoted side the lead in the cup clash before Jason Heffernan granted them some breathing space.
Southend gave themselves hope of forcing extra time when Paul Campbell scored from the spot, but any comeback hopes were dashed when they were reduced to 10 men late out.
