First Division League Cup Semi- Final
Kilrush Rangers 2-1 Newmarket Celtic B
Kilrush Rangers qualified for the First Division League Cup Final after a late goal from Gearoid O’Brien helped them defeat Newmarket Celtic B at Kilrush on Sunday. It was one of those days where an error would prove vital and when it came, it provided Kilrush with a penalty. O’Brien scored his first from the spot and they held the lead until midway through the second half. Ciaran McCoys determination earned his side a penalty and Martin Mulqueen made no mistake to level the contest. The game looked set for extra time until late in the game when O’Brien was played through and slotted the ball past the oncoming Marty Whelan. Newmarket will now play Turnpike Rovers in the final next month.
