Division 3 Sunday
Shane Browne played the captains role as Larkview Boys enjoyed a title coronation thanks to victory over Queens Park.
The captain registered the only goal in the final day title decider to ensure Larkview move out of the LSL’s basement division as champions in what is their first season back after a brief sabbatical.
The winner takes all battle was tense and nervy in the first half. Christopher Rossiter did have a great chance to ensure a half time lead for the Boys, only to be denied by the keepers head when attempted a lob after breaking the offside trap. However, a brilliant Aaron Healy save would have left Queens Park feeling equally aggrieved during the break.
Larkview upped the tempo somewhat after the turn and five minutes before the stole in front Jamie Dennison rattled the cross bar.
The new champions didn’t have long to wait before they were celebrating as Shane Browne got his head to a corner to score.
Rossiter had a chance to wrap up the tie and indeed the title, but was denied again by the net minder. It mattered little, however as Larkview held on to secure a championship winning victory.
