FAI Junior Cup
Newmarket Celtic B-1
Killarney Celtic advanced to the last 64 of the FAI Junior Cup after coming from behind to beat Clare opposition on Sunday.
Newmarket Celtic B were both fancied and supported locally, but despite going behind early on the visitors responded well to eventually ease down the Road to the Aviva.
Last years semi finalists were under pressure for the first 20 mins and they fell behind early on.
At that stage a nervous away side looked in a degree of trouble, but an instant response saw them settle. Within 2 minutes Danny Roche got on the end of a good team move to level things up.
The visiting Celtic took over from that point and began to dominate. They took the lead just before half time this time Roche finished after good work by Cathal O’Shea.
There was a big improvement in Killarney Celtics second half performance and they added two more goals through Peter McCarthy and Michael Devlin, but created enough chances to win win by a wider margin.
The Kerry side are now in the Open Draw.
