LSL Senior Sunday
Leixlip United -2
Leixlip United fought back from two goals down to claim their first Senior Sunday point of the new season.
It looked like fellow promoted side and Kildare rivals Newbridge were on course for a second win of the campaign as they took a two goal cushion into the turn around.
However, Leixlip mounted a second half comeback, secured a draw and got off the mark point wise in their third game of the new campaign.
Newbridge got off to the perfect start and took the lead just three minutes in.
Conor Delahunty produced a composed finish to break the deadlock.
Newbridge continued to shade the first 45 minutes and in first half injury time they managed to double their advantage.
Again Delahunty was involved, this time his work down the flank resulted in a United defender turning into his own net.
Leixlip responded well after the turn and within 10 minutes of the restart were level when Sven Biansumba found the back of the net for the third time this season.
The home side continued to push in what was an entertaining clash and levelled the Kildare derby with 12 minutes to go. Niall Barnes crossed brilliantly for Kiersey to turn home.
Newbridge did have a chance to snatch a win late on but couldn’t convert come goal mouth scramble time and the sides shared the spoils as a result.
