FAI Junior Cup
Flood light failure with just seven minutes to go may have cost Ayrfield United an immediate place in Round 3 of the FAI Cup.
Ayrfield looked set to win a battle of the former Premier A sides and progress along the Road to the Aviva as they lead going into the last seven minutes of a tense tie.
However, floodlight failure at Greendale Road meant the game failed to reach 90 minutes and had to be abandoned.
Whether or not the result will stand or a replay will be needed remains to be seen and will most likely be decided by the powers that be.
Major 1 side Ayrfield took the lead via Mick Mooney on 48 minutes and doubled it via a Brian Malone finish 10 minutes later.
However the home side pulled one back to set up a tense finish.
Just when it looked like Ayrfield were set to hold on for what would have proved a massive win some fisty cuffs broke and the lights went out.
