Michael Ward Trophy
Leinster got their Michael Ward trophy defence off to a perfect start on Friday night.
The LSL select defeated 10 man Connacht to bank three opening night points in the Provincial competition.
Former Greystones AFC, Crumlin, Firhouse Clover and current Bluebell player Carl Forsyth opened the scoring for the reigning champions on 10 minutes.
The wide attacker finding the net to ensure Andy Noonan’s men took a goal lead into the break despite a positive Connacht response.
Leinster’s chances of victory were increased in the second half when Connacht were reduced to men after the break.
They finally made sure of an opening day win five minutes from time when Sean Dixon of Cherry Orchard doubled the advantage.
Leinster now play Munster-who also won on Friday night, while Connacht will take on Ulster.
