Daniel Matthew hit yet another important brace as the LSL got their Oscar Traynor Trophy campaign off to a winning start on Wednesday night.
The scores were level at the break, but Matthew ensured a dream LSL debut, the former AUL representative bagging a second half brace.
Crumlin Saturday side wide man Ronan Hanapy gave the LSL a first half lead, but NEFL leveled before the end of a tight and tense first half.
Duleek’s Barry Kavanagh managed to even the scoreboard, the former Junior International fired past Sean Holmes.
The LSL went back in front within a minute of the restart as Matthew’s scored his 13 goal in 11 games for club and league.
The NEFL pilled on the pressure and but for some solid defending and some good saves from from experienced but young Cherry Orchard net minder Holmes they may have been pegged back again.
With just minutes remaining the LSL sealed the deal thanks to one of amateur footballs form midfielders as Matthew’s put the seal on the win.
