Leinster Junior Cup
The Meat Man eventually butchered Coil Dubh as Kilmore Celtic progressed to the next round of the Leinster Junior Cup.
Daryl ‘Meats’ Curley hit a hat trick as the Premier A side beat Coil Dubh in an exciting clash.
In fact it was that close that Kilmore needed Curley to complete his hat trick in injury time to make sure of the win.
Kilmore started brightly and were a goal to the good after just 25 minutes when Curley collected a clever Jason Cobbe pass to finish.
The visitors had chances to extend the advantage in a dominant spell, but had to settle for a single goal lead at the break.
Coil Dubh regrouped at the break and within five minutes of the restart were back on level terms.
Parity didn’t remain for too long as Mooney was dragged down after a trade mark mazy run saw him felled in the area.
Curley stepped up to finish from 12 yards and put his side back in front.
To their credit Dubh didn’t buckle and within 10 minutes were back on terms after they converted a penalty the visiting line contested.
Extra time looked likely, but Curley had other ideas. The front man pounced on a cushioned Sean Donnelly header to become the second player in as many games to score a hat trick for Kilmore.
The Premier A side had to withstand nine further minutes of injury time and pressure, but held firm and recorded a cup win.
