Ciaran Bisset ensured cup bliss for Dublin Bus on Sunday morning.
Bisset played a part in all three goals as the Senior 1 promotion hopefuls scalped top flight side Firhouse Clover in the Metropolitan Cup in IT Tallaght.
Bisset’s free kick was the catalyst to the opening goal which came as early as the fifth minute.
The Bus player sent in a delivery that was headed across the keeper and into the back of the net by Aaron McGuirk.
The second tier side were two goal to the good soon after and this time it was created by Wayne Byrne and McGuirk. The attacker felled in the box after latching onto the experienced defenders long pass. Bisset stepped up and finished from 12 yards.
Firhouse were then awarded a spot kick of their own and afford a route back into the game as a result.
However, Stephen Kavanagh saved low to his left and the two goal cushion remained intact.
The Bus managed to to extend the advantage before the turn when around the half hour mark after Paul McMahon’s clever play down the right allowed Bisset to cross for McGuirk, who scored his side’s third and his second at the near post.
A rampant Bus could have added more before the turn, but had to settle for a three point margin at the start of the second half.
Firhouse were much improved in the second half, but couldn’t get past a stubborn Bus, who showed good game management to see the game out and set up a final date in two weeks.
