An Enda Morris inspired Mullingar Athletic booked their place in the Lummy O’Reilly Cup decider.
The West Meath side set up an intriguing final with CIE Ranch thanks to victory over Mid Sutton Sportslink.
Mullingar, whose Sunday side who won promotion to the Intermediate ranks this season, took the lead after Mid Sutton wasted a good chance to go in front, when midway through the half a hand ball in the box saw the referee point to the spot.
Keith Hope stepped up and made no mistake from 12 yards.
Sportslink managed to level and deservedly so before the turn and the there was parity at the interval.
Mullingar’s management decided to move Enda Morris back into the midfield from up top and the change made all the difference. The hosts began to dominate possession and Morris energy and tireless running caused all manner of problems.
It wasn’t long before Mullingar took the lead as Freck volleyed home in style after Darren Jones deflected cross found it’s way onto his weaker foot.
Mullingar had a major let off a few minutes later when somehow a visiting player missed an open goal
There was no surprise when Morris banked the insurance strike contrived to miss an open goal from a couple of yards.
Mullingar did manage to bank an insurance effort and did so via a brilliant team move. Some incisive one touch football allowed Freck to feed Morris, who preceded to bury the ball into the back of the net.
It turned out to be a crucial as well as eye catching strike as Mid Sutton pulled one back via a free kick with two minutes to go.
Mullingar saw out the last few minutes to set up a Tuesday night decider with The Ranch.
