
Munster wrestled the Michael Ward Trophy back out of the hands of Leinster over the weekend.
The Munster Senior League select went into the final day of the Inter provincial contest knowing any form of result against Connacht would see them win the title for the first time in two years.
Thanks to a goal from Kelvin Kruschell-his second of the tournament- from Middleton on the hour mark Munster got a win and lifted the title after beating all comers.
While Sunday’s win guaranteed the title win the victory over Leinster on Saturday was the essential victory of the three.
Munster beat last years champions after an explosive 90 minutes on day two of the contest, finding the net from the spot in injury time of a classic. That win put them in pole position and they hit no speed bumps on the final lap.
Leinster and Ulster shared four goals equally and as a result the spoils in the days other game. Gavin Kearney and Carl Forsyth with the goals for Leinster.
Rob Slevin of Munster and UCC picked up the Player of the Tournament award.
