Michael Ward Trophy
Two early strikes were enough as Munster claimed opening day victory in the Michael Ward trophy.
The MSL select looked certs for an easy win as they went two goals up within 14 minutes, but ended up having to rebuff a late Uslter fight back to set up what could prove a decisive clash with Leinster tomorrow.
Munster got off to the perfect start and where a goal to the good within six minutes.
Douglas Hall’s Mark Murphy giving the MSL select an advantage early on.
A rout looked on the card as less than 10 minutes later Munster were two to the good.
Kelvin Krushell, who wears the club crest of reigning MSL Premier champions Middleton giving his side a two goal cushion before 15 minutes had passed.
However, Ulster re-grouped and managed to prevent Munster from extending the advantage before the turn, thus giving themselves hope going into the second half.
Indeed, the USL select did pull one back after the break, but couldn’t find a leveler meaning Munster set up a mouth watering clash with Leinster tomorrow.
